Kids Summer Emergency Kit

Summer is coming – yay! And if you’re a mom, bug bites, skinned knees, and sunburns are coming too – less yay. I feel like the average mom’s bag is filled with toys, coffee cards, random napkins and if we’re lucky our keys and wallets. Not exactly prepped for kid-disasters. The start of a new season usually inspires me to organize and prep for what’s ahead though, so I put together this little Summer Emergency Kit to toss in my bag when I’m kicking it around town with my boys in tow.

A good chunk of my kit is made up of items from Homeocan Remedies Kids 0-9 Summer Emergency Kit, which is filled with natural fixes like soothing witch hazel spray. I shared a breakdown of what’s in the kit on my Instagram stories, and had a few requests to save all the information for you guys. ON IT. In this post I’m breaking down which items we’ll be using from the kit and for what, along with a few additional things we’ll be toting around on those long summer days and nights. Not everything in my kit is necessarily an *emergency* item, but things like wipes and thieves oil make me feel prepped as a mother to tackle summering with boys.

Summer Emergency Kit Checklist

Calendula First Aid Cream (Kids 0-9) for minor cuts, scrapes, burns

Citronella Outdoor Spray because we try to stay away from traditional bug sprays often filled with questionable ingredients. So far, essential oil sprays have been good enough for added protection for the time we spend outdoors

Witch Hazel Spray for soothing itchy bug bites and sunburns

Arnica Pain Relief Cream ((Kids 0-9) for pain relief AKA the extra crazy bumps, bruises, or post soccer game muscle aches and strains.

Water Wipes for cleaning up coffee spills, preventing stains from setting, wiping muddy hands, cleaning up scrapes, maybe an impromptu interior car cleaning… I love that these are JUST water and grapefruit extract!

Lolleez Organic Throat Soothing Pops perfect for sore throats (duh) but also handy to hold the boys over in lengthy lines, long car rides, or in waiting rooms, since the “medicinal” ingredient is just honey!

Band Aids, because is it even summer if you aren’t sporting bandaged up skinned knees?

First Aid Kit picked up this little First Aid Kit to cover my bases, and feel like alcohol swabs for cleaning up cuts on the go and the tiny scissors for all those random things will come in extra handy

Thieves essential oil as a little immune booster before public outings with extra germs, or acts as hand sanitizer in a pinch!

Sunscreen stick even though I’ll likely stash a larger bottle in my bag, or apply to the boys before we go out. I like knowing I have a back up in here because #mombrain is real.

Tylenol even though we don’t use it often, if we’re heading out of town I like having this handy in case an unexpected high fever pops up!

Benadryl bug bite just in case any bug bites look like they need quick attention, I’ll be stashing some of this in our emergency kit too.

Whaddya think?! Anything you’d add? Let me know in the comments! I tried to strike a balance of less is more with a little bit of expect the unexpected because KIDS.
